Modern Glass-Enclosed Wine Cellar in Georgetown
The Vision
Located in the heart of Georgetown, this project sought to redefine the traditional wine cellar as a modern architectural feature. The client desired a storage solution that functioned as a visual anchor for the primary entertaining space, requiring a perfect blend of transparency and precision engineering.
The Challenge
The primary hurdle was integrating a high-capacity storage system within a compact footprint without sacrificing the clean, minimalist aesthetic. It was essential to provide a climate-controlled environment while maintaining the illusion of an open, airy gallery. Proper illumination was also critical to ensure the collection was highlighted without creating glare on the extensive glass surfaces.
The Solution
We selected Millesime wine racks for their modular versatility and sophisticated material palette of anodized aluminum and fine wood accents. These racks provide a label-forward orientation, allowing for effortless bottle identification and a streamlined profile. The enclosure consists of floor-to-ceiling frameless glass panels, ensuring unobstructed views of the collection from every angle. To enhance the ambiance, we integrated soft, perimeter LED backlighting that casts a warm glow behind the bottles, emphasizing the depth and texture of the racking system. The result is a museum-quality wine display that perfectly complements the high-end finishes of the residence, offering both professional-grade storage and exceptional modern style.
