Modern Organic Kitchen with Deep Green Soapstone and Fluted Accents

Custom fluted wood cabinetry with brass hardware in a luxury West Lake Hills Austin residence.

A sophisticated kitchen featuring custom fluted millwork, deep green soapstone counters, and integrated paneled appliances. This project balances moody aesthetics with high-functional bespoke cabinetry.

The Design Vision

The objective of this project was to create a kitchen that felt both grounded and elevated. By selecting a moody, deep green wall color and pairing it with warm wood tones, we established a 'modern organic' aesthetic that challenges the traditional white kitchen. The space is anchored by stunning herringbone oak floors that lead the eye toward the bespoke cabinetry and high-end functional elements.

Material Mastery

At the heart of the design is the deep green soapstone counter, a material chosen for its silky feel and natural veining that perfectly complements the dark walls. We introduced texture through a custom fluted hood vent and matching fluted elements throughout the millwork. This vertical rhythm adds a layer of architectural interest without overwhelming the senses. Contrast is provided by polished gold hardware, which adds a jewelry-like finish to the warm wood drawers and doors.

Functional Luxury

Beyond aesthetics, this build prioritized seamless integration. We created a custom feature-paneled fridge that disappears into the cabinetry wall, maintaining a clean visual line. The kitchen is packed with hidden utility, including a pullout trash system and high-performance black appliances that recede into the dark palette. The floating shelves provide an airy touch near the fluted hood vent, while large windows flood the dark surfaces with natural light, highlighting the rich grain of the wood and the subtle textures of the stone.
